The past few days I’ve been seeing a lot of hate toward those who classify themselves as Christian Witches. My dash is filled with posts where the person is defending or apologizing because they are being told they are wrong.
Here’s the thing, TRUTH IS UNIVERSAL.
A quote by Marcus Aurelius has really spoken to me these past few months when I was questioning my own eclectic beliefs.
“Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones.”
Your religion is between you and you alone. Whether you choose to embrace a deity or not, that is your choice to make and no one has the right to tell you that you are wrong for your beliefs.
I firmly believe that religion is nothing more than what makes one feel right with themselves and the world. That as long as you live a good life it’s not going to matter in the end, so why waste time fretting and making yourself miserable for trying to conform to others beliefs?
Buddha makes a quote that I also think applies with what I’ve been seeing recently and the point I’m trying to make.
“Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it.”
I’ve seen arguments that you simply cannot be a Witch and a Christian at the same time. I do not think this is true. One argument is because you cannot “cast a spell” because it is witchcraft which is condemed by the bible. An argument against this could be that many Christian faiths cast ‘spells’ all the time, such as blessing of the wines and breads before communion.
If you think about it, it’s nothing more than how you label and term it. Christian Witches are sending focus to their prayers much in the same way that rosary beads or clasping your hands together do. They are praying to the one true God* they believe to be and asking for help.
There are also many people who are Christians that pray to God and ask for specific archangels and Saints to watch over them, much in the same way that those who believe in polytheism do with Gods and Goddesses who are there for specific purposes.
*I use this as an example only as many of the things I’ve been reading the person has stated they believe in One True God and not worshiping other deities, thus not going against the bible.
Another thing to keep in mind is that God (and the Goddess) already know your intent and what it is you desire before you even ask for their help. We pray/worship/ritual/etc because or a human desire to make ourselves feel heard.
Witchcraft - the craft of the Witch - utilizing personal power in conjunction with the energies within stones, herbs, colors, and other natural objects. While this may have spiritual overtones, Witchcraft, using this definition, isn’t a religion.
Let me end this on a note saying that this is what I believe. You don’t have to believe it, but please try to be mature if you feel the need to spam my inbox on why I’m wrong or send me bible quotes live I’ve seen some of you anons do with other people.
